Here is another "quote" that I cannot verify was said by the good Doctor Einstein, but it is an excellent snippet as schools are back in session (at least here in the south).
"Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think."--Albert EinsteinIt's been very clear to me that the standardized testing and one-size-fits-all K-12 education emphasizes memorized facts as the key ingredient of "learning". I would love for understanding, application, and thinking to be the goal of our education system, but it really is not. The current goal is assessment, test scores, and graduation rate. Not a good sign, if you ask me.
